All the iconic moments, we do all of them with a hip-hop twist. The difference is our show is set in today in the present, and it has a very different energy. Even though the music is the same, the way we physicalize that music is so much more electric. In a ballet tradition, there’s a lot of pantomimes, and in The Hip-Hop Nutcracker, we are dancing sort of hard-core from the beginning to the end. There’s much more sort of explosive choreographic moments than the way the traditional Nutcracker interprets those same sounds. We also get a much more diverse audience because of those things and that audience has a different energy, and that creates a different relationship to the stage. ... "
