" ... Kaufman: I gave them the same advice that I gave Trey Parker and Matt Stone with Cannibal! The Musical! and that was that we could help them finish the movie, we’ve got some money for that, but we do not have money to pay you the big bucks and that if they wanted that they should go to the big media conglomerates that control the media across the globe and see if they could get a nice advance. Trey and Matt came to us first, then they took the movie around to everyone else and then they came back to us so we were the first stop on the train and the last stop on the train. The mainstream is not terribly courageous they don’t understand when there’s something new but they’re happy to take credit for it. Now when I have meetings with the suits in California they all tell me they love Cannibal! The Musical! and they wanted to acquire it and blah, blah, blah and when it became a huge hit. A certain major Hollywood exec sent a flunky over to us at the Cannes Film Festival to try to get it from us and to try and get Trey and Matt to go along with it. Hostages are released who can easily tell law enforcement what happened inside, that, Luke Cage was being hunted, not acting as the hunter. Cage has never worked with an army of goons with guns, nor ever shot anyone. It’s insane to see this scenario and imagine anyone could end up blaming Luke Cage for any of it. Diamondback’s rationale? “If they see Luke Cage at an anti-Luke Cage rally and violence breaks out, that’s all we need.” For a master villain, this is incredibly stupid, and his flunky Shades even tells him as much, and also how it’s idiotic to improvise like this with no master plan. ...
