" ... There were appearances from AGT fan favorites who didn’t win the competition but were back in an attempt to prove themselves and take the crown. Among them were The Clairvoyants—psychic duo Thommy Ten and Amelie Van Tass, runners up of season 11 of America’s Got Talent. They performed an intricate and elaborate psychic act that included accurately predicting what candle Heidi chose for her romantic date, what city Simon would bring a date to, what gift Howie would bring his date and finally the big reveal, that they had predicted it before the show had even begun by writing their choices on the roof of the theater. It was incredibly impressive and mind-bending, but not quite as flashy as the other acts and got lost in the dazzle of the night. Joining them was the sweet dog training act “the super collies” that Simon lit up upon seeing enter the stage. The act was a choreographed dance between the dog, Hero, and his owner based around the story of them robbing a bank together. Despite how precious and perfectly executed the act was, much like the clairvoyants there is a roof to how memorable a dog training act can be, and by the end of the episode it was forgettable in the context of what else we saw. Free Ladder Man followed them, and suffered from the same problem, that his act has a limit despite the stakes (He suffered a tragic accident onstage during his finale show performance where he fell from the top of a 12-foot ladder, carried offstage by paramedics. Since the fall he claimed to have not gotten back on the tall ladder but did for the Champions round he returned. The set was impressive and tense, but at the end of the day, he was performing Charlie Chaplin vaudeville-esque stunts on a ladder. Final among this category of performer was Vicky Barbolack, our favorite trailer park nasty comedian. Vicky and I have exchanged some words on twitter when her avid fan base misconstrued something I wrote in this column during her first run on the show and to avoid such a misunderstanding this time let me be clear: I love Vicky and I loved this set! She returned to her tried and true trailer park material and even played off the humor of ugly rescue dogs (let's be real people, all dogs are precious gems given to us by angels but some of them are also ugly as can be. These things are not mutually exclusive). ... "
