They also have the most marvelous claw foot bathtub, right out of my dreams. Perhaps I could put on the stereo to something that would drown out the seething din? That is a good start with a hot bubble bath in the amazing claw foot tub cheerily filling just behind. There is the European style lobby that should make you feel right as rain leading to one of the finest white-table cloth restaurants in the city. What was that? A fine dining restaurant in the midst of veritable carnage occurring daily just outside the walls? You'd never know what was happening mere feet away and that's tough to ignore. I'm still unsure about that level of candor in the Union Square region of San Francisco, is it meant to lull me into complacency about the broader issues that face most American cities? I doubt it very much because this is the reality of the situation. It cannot and must not be ignored, this is real life! It's important to view this area of town as an essential part of the fabric of a neighborhood. Like it or not, the reality is there for you to experience without turning the streets into a white-washed utopia of shopping malls filled with all the popular catalogue stores and much more fast food. That's not my style of travel, no tour buses for me, thank you! ... "
